From the white cliffs of the Sussex coast to Brighton, the LGBTQ+ capital 🌊🏳️‍🌈

In Inghilterra del Sud c’è un luogo magico, simbolo di frontiera e identità britannica: le Seven Sisters.

Chiamarle scogliere è riduttivo. E’ il Mare del Nord che si infrange sulla terra, è il (lungo) cammino prima che si intraveda il profilo della scogliera. E’ bere una birra al The Cuckmere Inn prima di cominciare la ricerca del bianco delle rocce.

Le scogliere bianche della costa del Sussex riempiono gli occhi. E pieni di tanta bellezza (sapevate che qui è stata girata la scena della Coppa del Mondo di Quidditch in Harry Potter e il calice di fuoco?) facciamo tappa a Brighton, la città più aperta e inclusiva d’Inghilterra, capitale LGBTQ+, guardiamo il fiabesco Royal Pavilion prima di arrivare al Brighton Palace Pier, un universo paralello fatto di luci, montagne russe sul mare, slot machine e fish & chips. Una inspiegabile atmosfera d’altri tempi puramente british. 

Tips: 

i clienti del The Cuckmere Inn possono parcheggiare lì e incamminarsi verso le Seven Sisters.

Il cammino verso le Seven Sisters è lungo e scenografico, ma non adatto al passeggino (solo l’inizio è praticabile).

Il vento soffia forte ma è bellissimo 

Al Brighton Palace Pier si può acquistare il braccialetto per avere giostre illimitate, il Supersaver Wristband, al costo di £26 online (acquistato almeno un giorno prima) o £32 se acquistato in loco (per i bambini sotto 1,20 metri £21 online o £27 sul posto)

Le giostre chiudono letteralmente all’improvviso, l’orario cambia a seconda… boh, non saprei, del vento?

In the South of England there is a magical place, a symbol of British identity and wild beauty: the Seven Sisters Cliffs.

Calling them “cliffs” almost feels like an understatement. It’s the North Sea crashing against the land, it’s the long walk before the white outline finally appears. It’s having a beer at The Cuckmere Inn before setting off in search of those iconic white rocks.

The white cliffs of the Sussex coast are simply breathtaking. And once your eyes are full of that beauty (did you know scenes from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire were filmed here?), it’s time to head to Brighton — the UK’s most open and inclusive city, the LGBTQ+ capital.

Here, you can admire the fairytale-like Royal Pavilion before reaching the Brighton Palace Pier — a parallel universe of lights, seaside roller coasters, slot machines and fish & chips. A strangely nostalgic, unmistakably British atmosphere.

Tips:

➡️ Guests of The Cuckmere Inn can park there and walk to the Seven Sisters

➡️ The walk to the cliffs is long and scenic, but not stroller-friendly (only the first part is manageable)

➡️ It can be very windy… but that’s part of the magic

➡️ At Brighton Palace Pier you can buy the Supersaver Wristband for unlimited rides: £26 online (if purchased at least one day in advance) or £32 on site (children under 1.20m: £21 online / £27 on site)

➡️ Rides can close quite suddenly — hours seem to depend on… the wind? Who knows!
