Haarlem, the journey of tulips 🌷✨

Picnic ad Harleem, il villaggio dei tulipani, fino al Castello De Haar, tra ponti levatoi e fossati e le incredibili stanze che ospitarono i grandi vip del 900.

Il richiamo del Mare del Nord ci porta ad Harleem, città famosa per i campi di tulipani, quasi una piccola Amsterdam, divisa dal fiume Spaarne (con un mulino a vento in pieno centro) lungo le cui sponde faremo il nostro picnic di Ferragosto (ormai conosciamo a memoria il supermercato vicino al nostro hotel e il pranzo a sacco diventa un must).

Dopo aver provato a noleggiare una cargo bikes (la bici con rimorchio per i bambini molto diffusa in Olanda) senza successo (tutto esaurito, è pur sempre ferragosto) ci spostiamo a Utrecht, dove faremo tappa al bellissimo Castello De Haar, una storia affascinante dietro queste mura fiabesche in stile neogotico che hanno ospitato Coco Chanel, Roger Moore, Brigitte Bardot e molti altri.

Ponti levatoi, fossati, splendidi giardini con cicogne in volo ci incantano prima di tornare ad Amsterdam per la nostra ultima notte in Olanda prima di trasferirci in Belgio.

Olanda, mi mancherai moltissimo!

Picnic in Haarlem, the land of tulips, all the way to Castle De Haar — among drawbridges, moats, and the incredible rooms that once hosted the great VIPs of the 20th century.

The call of the North Sea brings us to Haarlem, a city famous for its tulip fields — almost like a smaller Amsterdam — crossed by the Spaarne River, with a windmill right in the city center. Along its banks, we enjoy our Ferragosto picnic (by now we know the supermarket near our hotel by heart — packed lunches have become a must).

After trying (unsuccessfully!) to rent a cargo bike — the classic Dutch family bike — we head to Utrecht, where we visit the beautiful Castle De Haar. Behind its fairytale neo-Gothic walls lies a fascinating story — these rooms once welcomed guests like Coco Chanel, Roger Moore, Brigitte Bardot and many more.

Drawbridges, moats, and stunning gardens with storks flying overhead enchant us, before heading back to Amsterdam for our last night in the Netherlands, ahead of our move to Belgium.

Netherlands, I will miss you so much!
