7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the Staten Island Ferry (free of charge) connects Lower Manhattan to Staten Island — one of the main destinations for Italian immigrants after the 1800s. Here, half the surnames are Italian, and you can find the first American home of Giuseppe Garibaldi and that of Antonio Meucci.
Every day, more than 75,000 people board the ferry and, from there, wave to Statue of Liberty — one of the most famous monuments in the world.
Brooklyn in the sunshine is a gift for the eyes. A walk along the East River, through DUMBO, with an unmissable stop at Time Out Market New York — a food market with stunning views between the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges.
